High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Abdominal epilepsy is a rare condition consisting of gastrointestinal (GI) disturbances caused by epileptiform seizure activity. While a causal relationship between seizure activity and the GI symptoms has not been proven, the GI symptoms cannot be explained by other pathophysiological mechanisms, and are seen to improve upon anticonvulsant treatment. Abdominal epilepsy can be a rare cause of recurrent abdominal pain. It has been described as a type of temporal lobe epilepsy. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Abdominal Obesity

Abdominal Obesity

$70.1

Abdominal obesity, colloquially known as belly fat or clinically as central obesity, is the accumulation of abdominal fat resulting in an increase in waist size. There is a strong correlation between central obesity and cardiovascular disease. Visceral fat, also known as organ fat or intraabdominal fat, is located inside the peritoneal cavity, packed in between internal organs and torso, as opposed to subcutaneous fat which is found underneath the skin, and intramuscular fat which is found interspersed in skeletal muscle. Visceral fat is composed of several adipose depots including mesenteric, epididymal white adipose tissue (EWAT) and perirenal fat. An excess of visceral fat is known as central obesity, the pot belly or beer belly effect, in which the abdomen protrudes excessively. This body type is also known as apple shaped, as opposed to pear shaped, in which fat is deposited on the hips and buttocks. Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 84 Publication Date: 2010/07/31 Language: French Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.20 inches
