Arts Boxing Gloves

Which would you choose? Martial Arts.?
Ok so my boxing gym is connected to a judo/japanese jiu jitsu/submission wrestling place.
I went in after boxing to take a look. I told the guy my experience with martial arts with tkd and kung fu. he said taekwondo huh? try to punch me in the face as hard you can. i said are you sure? (note: he is a 61 year old man)
he said hell yeah i am sure. so i do and he grabs my arm and within 2 secconds i am on the ground. in one hand he could of broke my wrist, and in the other he had me in a ground and pound position.
i was like holly shit. and he said watch your language there are kids in here. so we talked and the place is only 10 bucks more a month than my boxing gym.
in my boxing gym all i do is come in and do cardio running around the ring then just hit the bags. no one really teaching me boxing unless i ask to do mits
my dad might be mad though because he bought me the boxing gloves and hand wraps already.
what should i choose? all i want is to learn to be a great fighter
my attention peaked at submission wrestling.. Many awesome fighters have had a submission wrestling background, but i digress.. I think since you have an interest in being a well rounded fighter with your previous arts and your boxing that Judo/juijitsu/submission wrestling will help you accomplish that goal.. go for it.. your dad may be proud that you made a decision and that you are getting more arts for the little amount of money more that your paying.
remeber though jjj and submission wrestling are great but in a situation where you don't want to be on the ground with someone (think multiple attackers) you will need to have your stand up and/or boxing techniques ready.

In Martial Arts, what are the orders of the "belts", and how long does it take to get each belt?
How long does it take to get each color belt, and what order do the colors go from lowest to highest?
I am mostly talking about Brazialian Jui Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing/American Kickboxing, and regular boxing with fist and gloves?
Does wrestling have belts such as sambo, judo, freestyle, greco-roman, folkstyle, scholastic, and collegiate wrestling?
Thank You, trying to break into the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) world, and maybe compete in UFC, WEC, DREAM, etc etc.
worry about nothing but boxing, muay thai and bjj in mma...find whatever one you like most and use that...get really really good at it...that will be your base..it will make you strong and it will make you better. i give you my word as someone who started asking the same question youre asking two years ago.
I personally will advise to you bjj..although the belts take awhile, the better you get, the faster you'll be promoted. if you deserve it. you will get it reguardless of time.
its
White
Blue
Purple
Brown
Black
it's addicting, it will open your mind, and it will toughen you up without giving you black eyes and brain damage from sparring in boxing and such. Later after you get your blue or purple belt, then i'd pick up a LITTLE cross training. boxing is something i tried and i liked it alot. Do it man! you know you want to! ha. whatever you decide to do, hope it goes well.

'Di ko talaga makalimutan an bakbakan mi ni sano and batchmate Ah-oh Jeresano. Hehehehe. Padulom na an adlaw payt pa kami. Malin grabe an inabot mi na kulog sin ulo nan lawas maski na ngani may boxing gloves pa. Hahahaha. Plus gutom pa. Hehehehe. I also remember the big guys (seniors) who used this as a temporary place for weightlifting.

Yes. I consider myself a mix martial artist. I do judo and wrestling, similar styles but both mixed together create an arsenal of attacks and throws that can be considered MMA. I would much rather pay less and enjoy some one on one like I do with my Sensi (Black Belt in Judo) and my HS wrestling coach (I went varsity my first year), then be taught by a fake place. So yes focus on striking or grappling first. Believe me if you mix everything together, you would be having a funky schedule and not learning as much as the others. Keep the class. Yes, as a stud wrestler and by being a judoka (Having the judo instructor teach me one on one and he loves me for my hard work, he has mentioned it to me several times and has offered to show me techniques to improve my last year in HS wrestling), also I think people who focus on all areas at once, choose the areas they like and have holes in their game which is bad as you have seen in several MMA grappling and striking matches. IF they charge as much as a MMA place around 80-100 bucks a month, quit drop it. It is too much. If it cost a good 30-60 bucks keep it. Believe me it's not about money, it's about your time and places that charge alot like to rip people off and tell them false Information. I did alot of research this summer and found out that my judo place is amazing, my wrestling teammates are the best guys ever, why would I want to fuck that up to go a top flight MMA gym where they give a shit about you learning. Trust me, do one area first and pay as little as you like. Do something cheap like Judo, Wrestling, Mauy Thai, Boxing where the instructors love you and always want you to come back. I go nawza (ground work) with my instructor all the time and he is always teaching me new things. He comes by and always instructs us one on one. He talks to me after practice and never disrespects me without the intent of being funny. I love focusing on one area. Oh yeah and mauy thai works. My friend goes at a 25 dollar a month gym that is popular, and he beat an ammeter MMA fighter at a party. Enjoy yourself and make sure you have it as good as I do. If they are dicks and don't teach you well, if the class is too overpopulated, drop it and go check out other places.
