any ideas for alternatives to a punching bag?

i think i'd actually like to try boxing/kickboxing a punching bag for some exercise, but in my apartment i don't have much room for an actual punching bag. i don't really like just punching into the air, but thought an object to hit would make it more fun, etc. any ideas or do you know of any alternative boxing equipment that wouldn't take as much space as a punching bag?

Try punching a cushion instead. When not in use, you can put it on your sofa as a cushion. When using it as a punching object, you can hang it diagonally using a strong string from ceiling. Remember to attach the bottom part to either your chair or a table.
Just make sure that your cushion is made of durable material and is of high resistance as well. A pvc or leather material would be great.

What should kickboxing class consist of?

I'm going to guy mezger's gym and we run 15 laps, shadow box, practice combos w/partner, do random push ups and situps throughout, hit the bag for a couple of rounds, run, punch bag again. It's only for an hour too.

That's pretty much the ideal kickboxing class, just you should spar with people, but only when you feel comfortable, Guy is a legend and really knows what hes doing.
