Bag Set Carry
Does it make sense to carry a 3 hybrid and a 5 wood in your golf bag?
I recently purchased a set of irons and rather than a 3 iron it came with a 3 hybrid. I need to know if I should still carry a 5 wood with me or if this is now replaced?
Also, if your saying I should not get a 5 wood and instead carry a 3 wood, what about a 7 wood? Thoughts on having one of those too?
keep the 5wood it is there to replace your 2iron not your 2iron.
don't bother with a 7wood because that was designed to replace you 3 and 4 irons and you already have a 3hybrid.
Personally i would bother carrying a 3wood unless you plan to hit it off the tea as i'm guessing (and sorry if i got this wrong and have offended you) your not the most experienced player in which case hitting a 3wood off of the fairway could do you more harm than good.
If you haven't already then i would look at replacing your 4 and 5irons with hybrids aswell. however that depends on how well you hit them, dont change something that works!
Personally if you havent got a sand wedge i would advise you to get one and if you find yourself on a course where you have to stop the ball pretty much dead on the green then i would also get a lob wedge (i know "they" say inexperianced players shouldnt get one but its alot easier to get the ball high and to stop straight with a lob wedge than it is opening the face on a sand or pitching wedge)
however....be careful not to become an equipment junky! Ultimately its your swing and skill as a golfer which will determine your score not your equipment,
