Bag Sparring Fight

I feel stupid asking, but what are those fighting bags with the sticks connected called ?

It's moreless a long pole made of wood, with sticks connected to it.

It's used for sparring, and is relatively similar to a punching bag.

I'm watching a movie, and it says it's called a shaolin porcupine, but I think the english term is different, because I can't find it.

I'm trying to buy one, what are they called ?

How to train fighting skills?(more inside)?

Not like exercises...Here is what I am currently/planning to do:
Get punched in the stomach mediumly till I can take harder ones
Get kicked in the thighs or shins to harden my skin so I can take it
Do 100 elbows and knees each joint to a rice bag to harden
target sparring
sparring

Im trying to know good ways to train fighting skills not like exercises to get stronger but like what to do in situations with big guys,small guys etc...I might take Karate then BJJ soon.

I go running ALOT for intense training

I would say dont do karate. I never did all that punching myself and stuff. Bjj will help you alot. What toughened me up was training in Muay Thai. Getting beat up in sparing toughens up your body. Also kicking and punching the heavy bag toughens up your shins and fist. Mauy Thai also has you working the elbows and knees. I'll say its got you all covered. Karate has a few too many flaws for my liking. It lacks the training in head movement for slipping punches and all the karate guys i know dont check leg kicks because thats not aloud in there sparing. Muay Thai sparing for me was like a real fight with half power so no one gets seriously hurt and your able to work on technical aspect before a real fight.
