New Boxing Gloves?


Well its time for new boxing gloves. I've maxed out the life of my Everlast(yeah I know they suck but what you expect for under $20. I was being cheap). Anyways I'm looking for some new gloves and Im leaning towards Grant training gloves:

Also I see Title's Gel gloves have anyone ever used those?

Which gloves do you recommend? Or do you have any other gloves you suggest. I'm trying to keep it under $70.

Personally, i love my Title Gel gloves. I got them after returning my Rival training gloves after using those for 2 days(terrible gloves, they're for fitness boxing not actual training or sparring). The Gel fits very well and is very supportive on the wrists. The only setback, if you want to call it that, is the fact that it seems to be heavier than other gloves i've used (like Grant or Everlast). I don't know why (they're 16oz like every other glove i've used) but they seem to be a lot heavier on my hands. This could be a plus if you are a fighter though, since you will develop stronger, faster hands as you use 10oz gloves during competition. Hope i've helped you out!

Beginner boxing tips?


Hey everyone, i just took up boxing with a friend of mine after a 5 year hiatus. We just got some gloves and mouth guards and went to the beach to spar. I still remember a little bit of technique from the old days but its pretty apparent that I am rusty. My friend however has never had any boxing experience, he just hits really hard and needless to say he did quite a number on me. So I guess my question is, is there any exercises or things I can practice to get better? I am pretty much beginner status now, so much so that my friend with no technique can pretty much whup me, he leads with a big right hook, follows up with a left right combo but his opening hook hits me so hard that even with my guard up I still get rattled. I probably only hit him twice the whole time, my punching speed is pretty slow, but i figure that will just come with time. Should I be wearing headgear as well?

wearing head gear is important to a person who is taking boxing, it avoid injury. take a lesson with a trainer with good credentials
