What size boxing gloves?

I am a female and I weigh around 130 lbs. I am going to start boxing as a workout and just for fun. I will mostly be doing work with a 60 lbs. heavy bag. What differences are there between the 14 and 16 oz gloves? Are there any real differences? Which size gloves would you reccomend I use?

I would go with the 14 ounce. Simply because you say that you will be using them with a heavy bag and will be boxing as a workout and not sparring.

Sparring gloves are usually 16 ounce.

How do I prevent finger pain when boxing with a heavy bag?

I'm wrapping around the thumbs, knuckles, and wrists, properly. My technique at punching and jabbing and such is correct. So I think... However, both of my pinkies start to cramp up when I begin my workout and really hurt when I take off my gloves. Sometimes I can't even move them. But eventually the pain goes away. Is this something I should worry about? If it is how do I prevent this? Wrapping my pinkies extra times?

Settle down killer! The reason your pinkies may hurt is possibly because you are punching the bag VERY hard and you may cause yourself a broken hand! Hand and wrist injuries can happen frequently in boxing.

First, make sure you're wrapping your hands correctly with a trainer. Also, the type of wrap your using could help. Use the Mexican style hand wraps as they are longer and provide more suppport. Don't be racist now! See boxing is such a multicultural affair! Use sexi mexi wraps! =P Title boxings mexican wraps are raw!

Second, strenthen your grip and and wrist strength. You can use those grip balls and weighted Chinese Boading balls. Also, make sure you stretch your hands and wrists and massage them to promote blood flow. The blood flow is probably being disrupted to your pinkies for some reason.

Third, make sure you punching technique is proper. For most punches I connect on the first 2 fingers knuckles because those are my biggest knuckles others say it's the second and third knuckle. You shouldn't be connecting on your pinky primarily. Notice which punch you are hurting your pinky doing and really analyze how your punch is being thrown. Also, stop doing that specific punch so much on the heavy bag and work it more shadow boxing or on a double end bag.

Fourth, get a better pair of gloves. The black and white gel gloves from title boxing are immaculate and give much better padding than stock everlast gloves, plus they com on and off very easily, no need for lace ups.

I play guitar and have felt that numbness in my left fingering hand you mentioned. I believe its a symptom of carpal tunnel syndrome in guitar playing, I'm not sure its the same diagnosis in boxing though because the movements are very specific in guitar and keyboard with the pinky vs boxing. But assuming it could be, I had a famous flamenco guitarist as a teacher and he revealed his secret for conditioning the hands, Chinese boading balls. Solid and not hollow ones. After using those for a while, you'll feel like you'll be able to grab a table and rip it in half! After using them and continuing to use them to stimulate blood flow and exercise in my hands, I no longer have those carpal tunnel symptoms in my left hand.

It seems like your hands need to be strengthened to accomodate your punching power killer. So for a while just try to perfect and hone your technique rather than just letting loose with haymaker punches. Cut down on the heavy bag and practice shadow boxing and your balance and movement more. Use the double end bag and practice slipping. When I injured my right hand from hitting a solid old heavy bag with a smashing overhand right, I kept off the bag a bit. I was able to hit the double end bag with power though and practice movement.

Listen to your body, something is wrong. It's telling you to calm down a bit because your stressing it out at the pinky a bit. You may stress it out to the point of an injury. In boxing you have to learn when its fatique and pain you can push through, or stress and something that could possibly lead to a fracture or injury. So give yourself time to adapt and work on other things while your adapting to hitting hard. Have fun!

   Well, by hidden, I mostly meant “badly documented.” I didn’t even know Nerve existed until I saw a load screen text tip. Here are the “less obvious” benefits you get from SPECIAL: STR gives you a bonus to unarmed and melee. The unarmed bonus is one half the STR, and the melee bonus is double the STR value. So, at 10 STR you get +5 to unarmed and +20 to melee. PER simply increase the range that you see creatures on the compass. Exact values are unknown to me. END increases your “fatigue” statistic. If you played Oblivion this is the “green bar” that went down when jumping. The only thing fatigue is used for in FO:NV is for types of unarmed attacks, such as the boxing gloves. When your fatigue is dropped to zero, you collapse for a brief period. I never got knocked out in my play-throughs, so I am unsure as to the value of it. CHA was discussed already. INT is obvious and increases skill points per level. You get 10 + (1/2 * INT). Non-even amounts are applied every other level. So, if you have 9 INT you would alternate between 14 and 15 skillpoints per level. There are also allegedly “low INT” dialogue options. I haven’t gone through as a “dumb dumb” yet to see if that is true. AGI is just AP and bonuses to skills. LUCK gives a bonus to all skills, critical chance, and gambling. At 10 luck you can “double down” on blackjack almost every hand and win all the time. LUCK allegedly also works on enemies as well. So, if you have high luck, your enemy would miss you more often, or grenade themselves.
