shadow boxing with wieghts in your hand?
is it a good exercise?
ie been doin it latley and am wondering.
8 lbs in each hand.
if you do it correctly yes.
but if you lock your elbow out while your punching you could hyper extend it. this is true if you have weights or not. when ever you do shadow boxing or techniques in the air weather it be kicking or punching you need to keep you joints slightly bent and not fully extend.
with weights i usually recommend not going full speed.

Boxing - Hand Pains - Need advice people?
Hey everyone just wondering what people think on this problem im having.
I currently do 1-2 boxing circuits per week (1hr duration). We generally do just one on one pad work with different combos in each round. I do use hand wraps and 8oz gloves, yet three quarters of the way through the circuit i often get sharp shooting pains down my hand often in then tendons that lead to the fingers.
I have been told my some that i should get heavier gloves but i cant really afford them, so what can i do?
I know exactly what you mean.. You really need heavier gloves. I train with 16 oz. What you are feeling is the shock wave from the impact. Some gloves, IMF/ SHOCK RINGSIDE.com have shock proof impact which the glove can absorb tremedous impact. Since you cannot afford expensive gloves, you can buy Everlast standard gloves in Big five, Sport Chalet or sporting good store. They come in 12oz. Which is still alot better then 8oz glove. Some come with 14oz. Check out Titleboxing.com. They have pretty good bag gloves for great price. Bag gloves are great in mitts, and heavy bag. They can take alot more then sparing gloves.

Thanks Danny. Much appreciated. There was a lot of “authentic” imagery going on there aside from the baggage tag. People have been commending me on my unintentional product placement for various things, from Etihad Airways, to Go Biz magazine, to Warrior Muay Thai (with red kick-boxing hand wraps in the bag's side pockets). Next time I'm thinking of letting NIKE, Adidas, and Puma bid for sponsorships
