Boxing Martial Is it fair to call boxing a martial art ?
I've heard some people refer to boxing as a martial art, but to me it's always been a sport. I know it teaches punches and footwork FOR punches, but how can you call that a martial art?
What it really is is a combat sport.
Although I am sure there are many people out there that live to train in boxing...boxing is hardly a way of life but rather more like a sport people are dedicated to. I have known some boxing coaches that went above and beyond in helping their students to prevail in life yet there really is nothing more to boxing other than training to compete and possibly win matches. To me this means it is a sport and there for cannot qualify as a martial art. It will always depend on who you ask as I know some of my black belt buddies that say it, along with wrestling and other sports, are martial arts but I simply do not agree. That is however my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.

I'm 18 years old and I was diagnosed with posterior suborbital cataract. The doctor told me that it is unusual for someone my age but I have. He told me that surgery is the only option. I'm a martial artist and I do boxing and karate. Can I still do boxing and martial arts after the cataract surgery? or will it be very dangerous for my eyes?
