Boxing Short Trunks
What is up with some fighters wearing horrendously long boxing trunks these days?
I know its not everywhere and not everyone does it but the other day I saw four fights in a row where at least one or both fighters wore the incredibly long trunks like halfway down the calves. I know it could be a fashion statement but I have always been of the opinion that the longer the shorts are the more your movement and speed could be hindered.
i agree with you on hindering movement and speed. long trunks beyond the knee can affect you when you're bending at the knees as the shorts can sort of get caught as you bend over and won't let you crouch effectively or low enough. heavy cotton shorts can also play into a long fight, especially if they are soaked in sweat or water from your corner. the added weight from these wet shorts could have a negative effect on your balance and leg strength, two crucial necessities late in a fight. for those of u that read this and know little about the fight game, when u are watching a match, look at the legs of the fighter who is wearing these oversized trunks late in a fight. although i doubt this means anything in a short fight or amateur contest, as a professional fighting over 8 rounds, i would not recommend these type shorts, use what gives u an advantage not a disadvantage. i agree with u brother, stick with the old school.
