Boxing Trainer Should you tell your boxing/muay thai trainer that you're going into mma and will not be a straight up boxer?
Will there be differences? How would/should the striking training of someone who will be a straight up boxer differ from someone who will be into mma? Is it necesarry to inform your trainer/coach of your plans so that adjustements will be made?
First of all, it would be in your best interests to tell your instructor what you would LIKE to do, and let him decide ow you training will progress, instead of telling him outright that you WON'T do something. remember, HE/SHE is the expert; that is why you are going to them for TRAINING.
Second, if you have a specific goal in mind, it would be absolutely essential to talk to your instructor about your plans, and work with him/her to determine how you should train and where you should focus your efforts. Keep in mind that your instructor, as well as the MMA fighters you see on TV and aspire to be like, are professionals who have been studying for YEARS in their respective art, so if you have plans on training fast and getting into MMA quickly (within the next two years), then you also need to ensure that you have a good insurance policy in place, because you are going to get yourself hurt if you rush into anything.
