Should Boxing be bought back in to schools?

I think this is an idea worth thinking about.
Let's say for a moment that it was controlled properly by the Boxing Association with proper certified headgear and gloves so the children were protected from injury.
Would you allow your child to box? It would allow the controlled venting of childrens anger through sport and would show our children how to defend themselves plus it would probably stop the bullies, it would also teach them discipline and respect.

I would. Unlike some of the comments suggested in my boxing question, I am by no means a liberal pacifist. Far from it. Agree completely with you, it teaches discipline and gives children self-respect and the means to defend themelves. Bullies don't tend to like it when you hit back and hit them harder.

Should boxing fights require censorship ?

in that, not allowing children to watch or have ANY access to boxing bouts on terrestrial tv, or cable/sky ?

Anybody who believes boxing is a productive career path for young kids cannot be 100% certain that its the BEST career path either. Wearing a pair of leather gloves and battering your opponent around a ring isn't something ANY child w/e age, should aspire to achieve in his/her life.

But onto the issue of censorship and boxing.

surely it should be issued with a 'parental guidance' censorship but what good would THAT do ?

if boxing is a productive career path for a child, I sincerely wonder how this is possible in 2009. Surely boxing bouts can be shocking to the senses of young kids to watch, watching a fighter being bloodied up, bruised and battered and ultimately floored unconcious isn't REALLY ideal childrens viewing yes ?

no way, if you dont like it dont watch it. there is much more violence in most films shown on t.v. boxing is a skill and discipline. Freedom of choice, obviously if someone wants to be a boxer then they should be able to choose. Look very few fighters get brain damage if the referee stops it well or the fighter knows when to quit then its usualy fine. Its one of the most purest sports in my oppinion very few rules and it is an adrenaline rush. Much worse being a soldier and getting killed for peanuts.

   1,)Well here we go for another season,So far I haven't seen anything that interested me to watch the show..excect what was up with the boxing gloves….Some people will do anything to be on tv….

   I would have to say yes, hence why you see so many BIG punchers (Mike Tyson, Wilfredo Gomez, almost all Mexican fighters, Lennox Lewis, Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley, Toshiaki Nishioka, JuanMa Lopez and Yuriorkis Gamboa use them, as do Celestino Caballero, and Thomas Hearns) use them.

   I would say they are devastating with the right kinda fighter, a puncher, but that's what Cleto Reyes wants with his glove. Anything less and you'd have Winning or Everlast gloves.
