Does anybody know where I can find quality boxing gloves, 16oz. , leather, everlast (not the kind found at big 5) , cleto reyes, grant, etc. in L.A.? I know I could get them online but need them quick, like today or tommorrow.
you can go to downtown near Broadway and Figueroa to Santee Alley, they also have a store specifically for boxing in Pasadena off of Colorado blvd. they sell all legit stuff.
I like reading your stuff but thisone hit me off guard.I've trained as a boxer for quite a long time and I may not know as many professional fighters as you but I've met a few. I've trainedwith a guy who was at Kronk for a long time and I don't consider myself ignorant when it comes to boxing.- I've never seen or heard of a guy smoking in a boxing gym.- The main purpose of a heavy bag is to increase punching power and to dothat you have to hit it hard not every time but often enough, you wrap your hands well and you use heavier training gloves to protect your hands if you need to.- Drinking goose and soda between rounds? Sounds pretty insane, sparring is hard enough and it's the most important part of boxing, I've never seen a guy drink in the gym while training.- Mayorga smokes a couple packs a day but he cuts down to 3-5 a daywhen in training. Maybe it's because I'm from the west coast, but boxing and smoking just isn't too bright.- Everlast equipment is well known but it's pretty weak. Something like Cleto Reyes is a little more like it.
