I'm looking for some boxing gloves that would suit best for hitting the heavy bag. Also, what is the difference between a "fight model" glove and a glove used for hitting a heavy bag? I noticed almost all pro boxers use "Cleto Reyes" fight model gloves in their fights, but they are very expensive. WHat is the difference between a glove like this and a glove that can be used daily in the gym to hit the bag?
Brands you want to avoid: Everlast, Title, Century, Combat Sports, Top Contender.
Brands you can rely on: Cleto Reyes, Ringside, Grant (only their "Professional" line of gloves, no other gloves or products), Windy, Twins, Fairtex, and that's about it.
I would go for a 12-16 ounce set of bag gloves from Ringside (since you're concerned with price). The difference between fight gloves and bag gloves is that bag gloves have only one or two layers of decent foam/stuffing, whereas fight gloves have 4-6 layers of top quality foam/stuffing, to better protect an opponent and your hands. A heavy bag doesn't need that protection. But there are many boxers who train with pro gloves on the heavy bag.

What do you think about Everlast?
alot of people talk bad about everlast and praise grant or cleto reyes? why do you dislike everlast?
Everything I've ordered from them is garbage. I'll give you a run-down:
1.) Slip bag - Weighs 20 lbs and will literally knock you out if you accidentally move wrong.
2.) Gloves - Uneven padding, stitching comes undone, thumb compartments uneven, smells funny, etc.
3.) Handwraps - Shed and are only good for about two uses, assuming you don't accidentally let the Velcro come in contact with any part of the hand wrap itself, therefore pulling out a majority of the elastic threading.
4.) Heavy bag - All (and I mean all) sand settles at the bottom, stitching comes undone, and just generally cheesy.
5.) Mitts - Come with what looks like pen marks on them, are extremely overpriced, and smell funny.
6.) MMA gloves - Come with literally a metal wire sticking out inside the index finger compartment which will cut your finger open anytime you remove the gloves.
After all of that, they have the nerve to send you items that people have used and then returned, so more often than not your items will smell funny, have pen drawings on them, or even have a burn marks on their gloves.
I could go on, but you get the idea. On top of all that, they are one of the most corrupt and dishonest distributors on earth. If you order items over the phone that are on sale, they'll pretend like they're not on sale and then you have to spend ten minutes letting them know they're on sale, etc. and in the end you get billed the full retail price with no sale. It's just a garbage company. So much so that I can't take any current boxer using Everlast seriously, no matter how good they are. The same with Title. Pro-Everlast people will say it's "only with their cheap items", but it's not. I would know. I've probably had $3,000+ worth of Everlast gear and the only thing I've been satisfied with is their old edition (note: old edition) pro fight gloves, but I wont wear them because they have an Everlast brand on them.

No, they don't make a USA Boxing approved head gear. Sorry, but Everlast makes a really good one. Good Luck.
