Contact Kickboxing Sparring
Going into a semi contact kickboxing fight with minimal experience?
Hey I have my first fight tomorrow. My trainer told me to do it because it is good experience. I will be fighting other beginners. I have been training for a few months, about two to three months. I sparred my trainers and they said I will do good in the tournament. I've read somewhere that with only a few months of training, fighting in a tourney will be a waste of everyone's time. Is this true? Will only a few months of training lead to failure?
If you trust your trainer enough to train with him, and he says it will be good for you, why ask Yahoo?
You will learn something valuable for sure. Maybe you will discover you are doing quite well, and you will see some others doing well too.
Maybe you will discover you have weaknesses you did not know about. Perhaps you will even see some terrific martial artists and be inspired to train harder.
Frankly, win or lose, I don't see any "failure" likely. Even if you don't get a trophy, you will have expanded your martial arts experience.

how to beat someone bigger than you in boxing?
I do kickboxing but i always have trouble sparring someone bigger than me. I can beat them in a street fighting way but when i put my gloves on and if it is light contact sparring,
I can't do much coz they r going towards me and I can't punch them hard coz i'm not allowed. Please help!!
Use the in and out technique. My coach taught me this. If you're fighting some one taller or larger chances are the have a better reach especially in kicking (I know I'm in tae kwon do). Now what you do is create or wait for an opening. Once you see that opening move in and drop some bombs then bfore your oppenent retaliates move out of his reach and recharge. Repeat. Though it normally works better for out fighters a little strategy never hurts.
