Cotter Pin

what is up with my bike chain. Just tightened it the other day and already its rubbing on the spring?
I would tighten it but am afraid i will not be able to get the cotter pin back in. still. maybe i should. Why does it keep loosening itself?
its a 2007 gn250 suzuki. i didn't overtighten it probably undertightened it. the cotter pin that holds the rear axl bolt was all jammed last time and its made me a little paranoid. i know it shouldn't be rubbing . it freaks me out a little. i will have to take it easy until i can fix.
is it a fairly new bike? or a new chain. new chain can stretch at first. or if it is a new bike, the stock chains are pretty cheap and crappy and stretch a alot. i bought a new suzuki a few years back and the chain stretched like every time i rode it. honestly. o the replace it with a good x-ring chain and it stretched once every year or two now. the stock chain was stretched out within 6 months. and the new rk brand chain has lasted 8 years. and still going strong. also make sure you are getting the chain straight and true. with the rear wheel being equally spaced at the axle bolt.

Cotter pins are used on sailboats, too. I don't know what size you're using but when you have to reuse one sometimes you can straighten then squish their little legs together using a pair of pliers Once I get the legs just poking through the hole (new or used), I use needle nose pliers to pull their legs the rest of the way through then bend them up out of the way.

Your build log and photos are Better than the manuel. It showed me how to bolt the wing, and use the cotter pins as well. There was NOTHING about this in the manuel. Great job. I am kind of a newbie and now very confident i can finish this model
Thanks

Yes, best to be careful lest you get a nasty face disease (you don't want to touch the tv remote in those places, either).
And for the record, I have NEVER been on any fair rides…nor eaten at a Chinese buffet. *gasp*…I know, can you believe it? The fair rides always frightened me – I pictured them put together with mere cotter pins. And I knew for sure if I rode one, one of those pins would come loose and I 'd go flying into the fried dough tent. At least it would have been a soft landing.

You can get cotter pins at any hardware store, but that's only part of the joint. You also need washers and discs the right size for your bears limbs. You can probably get these at a hardware store, too.
You could also get safety joints from a doll supply company. They are interlocking plastic that is washable and can't come apart, and are safer for little children.
Here's a blog that describes them both:
My local Joann's used to sell a lot of doll parts, but I haven't looked lately.
