Dental Teeth Boxing
I am I the one who's going to end up in trouble for this? Even though he assaulted me first?
Hi, I've posted this question already in the Law & Ethics section, but am in urgent need of advice. I'm 20, and for the past month or so I been getting 'harassed' by these middle aged men outside the pub on my way home from my boxing training. Everytime I walked past, it was "Yes, nice t*ts love!" or anything like that. I just told them where to go, and walked away. But then one them took things too far, and grabbed my bum. I turned round and punched him in the mouth. One of his teeth were knocked out and his lips was bust. He's since found i'm a boxer, and found out where I train, and told my trainer he's going to report me to the police and sue me for the stitches in his lips and the dental work. But he went to an NHS hospital... So, can he do that? And, does he even has a case with the police as he was the one who (sexually) assulted me first? I'm confused.
You MAY be in trouble here - as a boxer, your hands are treated as potential weapons (as you theoretically know how to use them to create maximum damage). Your plea that he first assaulted you by grabbing your bum is unlikely to cut a great deal of ice given that the degree of physical harm possible from that is minimal.... I think that you may end up having to argue that your response was reasonable force given the situation you were encountering. And as a boxer smashing someone in the mouth because he put his hand on your bum MAY be difficult..... Also, unless you have a witness to back up your side of the story, you have no proof he touched you at all, whereas he has the physical injuries you did him.... Be prepared for the worst, I'm sorry to say, however, as others have said, the fact he hasn;t already gome to the police weakens his case in the long run...
