I ask because I'm confused as to what I am training in. It's been almost 6 months and while I'm learning a variety of forms and techniques I can't really say at any point "Im going to switch to Leapord style since he's so slow or snake to throw him off". My Kwoon I guess doesnt really teach a particular Kung-fu. Its like a sort of museum of different types of kung fu but I never heard them actually say "Style" at the end of anything. DO they want me the student to just design my own motions for each for I get? But then again anything in kung-fu is "Hard work" so does that mean forms are actual styles but then how do I use them as a style against an actual oppenent? My sparring posture generally stays the same and so far I remain switching between a muay thai posture and this type of six inch block hand motion. The only forms I know is a begginning tuet Jin keur(Choy le fut) form and a shaolin low level dragon form. Maybe its simply because Im still very fresh in my training?
With 300 to 400 known styles of Kung-Fu, it is impossible to tell you what you are doing. It concerns me that after six months no one has mentioned what style you practice. If I were you I'd ask the instructor what style he is teaching. I'd also want to know how long he has trained and who he learned from.
