my friend has a set of those elastic band workout kit. just wondering if they really do work and how do they compare to traditional weights and dumbells?
They do, but they do not replace weights.

I already ordered all this stuff, so I hope it works. I am so sad that my elliptical broke, but I will buy a new one when I get back to the States.
I think they will all be beneficial -- especially alternating using them so you don't overdo one area.
