What is the purpose of the little blue beads/dots in my Bath & Body Works anti-bacterial hand gel?
i think its to exfoliate, and get all the dead skin off. i have this dove exfoliating cream that has these blue beads and it says its to exfoliate, so that's what i think!

What does hand gel/antibacterial spray do as opposed to hot soapy water?
Gel/antibacterial spray is good against most germs, but not C. difficile, an organism that can cause much harm to us. Hot soapy water is the only way to get most (never all) of the organisms off of your hands because the act of scrubbing your hands and then rinsing away the bacteria.

I have a question. Do you find yourself in any need of softening your stubble?
I have did much reduction in my shaving process, stepping down from DE and cream (too much hassle at the moment) to simple Mach3 and gel – but I have returned to soaps and creams. Nothing fancy, mostly a Palmolive stick or similar, cheap soaps with a boar brush.
The glide effect is not that important for me – I guess even a simple gel or hand soap can do. But I have found that a good soap does make my hair softer – and that makes the whole shave nice with no drag.
I have to add that I do not use very hot water on my face and only shower in tepid water – my skin is prone to irritation and allergies. I mention this, because I guess needs for softening might be smaller for one accustomed to taking a hot douche.
