Patent leather- doomed to be dated?

Think- two years from now. Will patent be dated or classic? (think of it in general, shoes, gloves and jackets)
I disagree. It's really blown up last spring and this fall, prior to that I hadn't seen it in many places. And many stores are making cheap plastic "patent look" type of stuff. Might make it tacky in years to come.
