Where to buy winter clothes for NY?
I`m from Brazil, actually living in San Diego. So, I don`t really know what it is winter and I`m kinda lost! I`ve read a lot of things(dress up in layers and warm up hands, feet, head, nose..) But what exactly type of boots and gloves do i need? Leather gloves? Does the boots need to have rubber bottom so I don`t slip? Another point, no one never says WHERE to buy those things if I`m here in San Diego. Where can I find those things? Is it cheaper down here in San Diego or NY?
I would appreciate your help!

If you have bulky stuff, use a SpaceBag type product to make them smaller.
Hope that helps,

How are the prices at Primark?
I'm from Brazil, where it is never too cold, but I'm on my way to London next week and I'd like to find out how to dress for this winter in the city! I've done some research and I've discovered Primark, which is known to be cheap, but what I'd like to know is> how cheap it is? How much does a good winter coat cost there? I'm talking about those coats that will REALLY keep me warm! And if you don't know about Primark, can you give some tips on how to buy a good warm winter coat (scarfs and gloves too) in London? It can't be expensive, though!
Very cheap indeed! Quality of the clothes is a bit of a gamble... I've got stuff that's lasted for years and other stuff that gets washed once and is never the same. However, if you're coming on holiday here then you won't really need long-lasting winter clothes once you get back to the sun =)
You can get big jackets and coats for around £15-£25 (sometimes £10 but you have to spot them fast!) and layer up underneath for a further £10. Jeans are about £8-£10 and you can get a tonne of socks for under £10...
edit: so all in all you can easily spend £40 on winter essentials and manage to have different clothes on from day to day. The only thing I'm not entirely sure about is how much their boots are, although they can't be more than £25. You can get hat and scarf sets for £5 and two pairs of gloves for either £1 or £2 and they come in all different styles and colours. Check out their jumpers (sweaters) and cardigans also because they're usually no more than £12 each.
I wouldn't recommend going in there on a Saturday unless a) it's your first day arriving and you need to stock up for the rest of your time there or b) you can make it there when it opens (8:30 am) because it is MURDER in there! However, weekday afternoons are usually relatively peaceful and the service is nearly always fast.
Overall verdict - true bargain! Don't forget the other high street stores around and about though because January sales are on over here so you can get some cheap things elsewhere too. Enjoy your stay in London!
