Did the pre-debate hype make it easy for Palin to get through without a major mistake?

To start with the format was changed at the insistence of the McCain campaign - less time for answers.

Then you see all the pundits saying that when a woman is in a debate with a man the man has to watch what he says or he comes across as condescending. So Joe Biden ends up just addressing John McCain and not criticizing Sarah Palin at all even though she attacked him several times on his record and she has so much of her own to attack.

Then a deal with Gwen Ifil writing a book that includes Barack Obama so she has to handle Palin with kid gloves. She let her get way off base answering the questions and use the debate as a rally instead of discussing issues.

It was a pretty easy situation for her.
Still - saying "maverick" over and over again made her look like she was grasping for a point of real substance.
Her attack on Biden for criticizing the policies of the Bush administration reeked of desperation. Of course when you are advocating something different you have to point out why the old way was bad - especially when you opponent is advocating exactly the same.
But there was no massive damage done - that said - it is McCain and Palin that are languishing in the polls and we didn't see her do anything to reverse that.

   I’m not too experienced with hunters, but I can give you some pointers. *First of all, I have never (*never*) seen a successful BM Hunter in 5 mans or raids of any kind. I have 4 80 tanks and so I see a lot of groups, and rarely will a BM hunter pump out more than 2-3k DPS. I would say try MM, especially since your spec currently doesn’t use BW or TBW. BM as I understand it is the levelling/PVP spec, and not very PVE viable. *Almost every piece of gear you now have, except the Conquest gear, can be replaced off the bat. Hop in your trade chat and advertise for a Reg TOC Chain run. Find a group and just re-queue that shit for a couple hours. Not only will you make about 200g off 10~ runs, but you will be able to upgrade a lot. Also, every day make sure you do a solo queue for Reg TOC and complete it for your chance at Marrowstrike. *If you are having a hard time getting Marrowstrike, go for the staff that drops from the final boss in FoS (Reg I believe). Don’t take Mourning Malice (HoR), Edge of Ruin(Toc), or Tyrannical beheader(HFoS) from melee. Those weps aren’t good for you and it’s not fair to them. Also from the Final FoS boss, get Needle Encrusted Scorpion Trinket. Go for the Felglacier Bolter that drops off Krick&Ick in H FoS. Save up 40k~ honor and get the Wrathful/Relentless PVP DPS Bracers. These are totally and completely acceptable to use in PVE, they rock. *The biggest upgrade to a new 80, however, is getting hit capped. GET HIT CAPPED. Its basic. If youre not hit capped and you’re gemming AGI, you fail. You can derive a lot of hit rating from the 50 Triumph Badge trinket, Mark of the Somethingsomething. Try buying Scroll of Enchant Gloves – Precision off the AH, should cost you around 60g. This enchantment gives your 20 hit rating, I believe. Do this if you are at all below hit cap. Also, Enchant Boots – Icewalker provides 12 AGI and 12 HIT rating, which is excellent for hunters below hit cap. *Something you may not know about is how easy it is to convert Honor, StoneKeeper’s Shard(SKS) and Badges to Epic Gems. You get 4x SKS for ever Reg and heroic 5 man boss kill, 10 for each Wintergrasp Quest you turn in. *Next, 30x SKS can be converted to 2K honor by buying Wintergrasp Commendations from the WG Vendor. Also, you can spend 9x WG Marks of Victory for 2k honor at the same place, if you aren’t already saving those to buy gear. *Also, check what Arena Points you have from doing your Daily Random battleground. For each Daily Random BG, you get 100 or 150 Arena Point iirc. These Arena Points can be converted to honor in Orgrimmar’s Hall of Honor (Or whatever its called, the PVP vendor place). *Epic gems all cost 10,000 Honor each to buy. Considering the huge increase in honor from random battlegrounds, you should never ever be using anything but epic gems, unless you know you will be upgrading that gear too soon for it to be worth it. In one Rand BG win you get 6k, then you convert 60 SKS (2k honor x 2) and you have 10k Honor, 1 epic gem. Too fricken easy. Although you can also convert Triumph badges down to Heroism Badges and then buy Epic gems from that vendor, I don’t consider this worth it because primary colour gems cost double as much as Secondary colour, which I find retarded. * Elitistjerks. **Elitistjerks**. Go on their Hunter forums and READ, READ, READ, It’s homework time. This is THE way that I ended up achieving 8k single target DPS, 13k+ AOE as a cat druid. This is the only way I successfully became a 9K dps DK, a 6k HealsPersecond Holy Pally. Their forums are an excellent source of data, do not pass this up. This forum will help you to understand how each stat effects your class, effectively teaching you what you want to gem based on your spec, etc. Other than this, it is important to find a guild based on your skill/experience level. Who cares if you are in your server’s equivalent to DAS BOOT if you never get invited to raids? It is better to wipe face all night and progress than to never be invited at all, and this is what will happen if you raid with a low-end guild. Also, advocate yourself. If you are in a guild and not getting invites, ask your Hunter officer for specific criteria to improve that will get you invited. He is supposed to be your mentor. At the very least, you should be able to run your Weekly and VOA’s with your guild at just about any gear level. *The last thing I want to say is about Addons. Many people frown upon the use of GearScore addon, because it perpetuates elitism. However, it is undeniably useful. Gearscore is usually NOT inaccurate as people generally do not throw on their higher-gear PVP set just to buff their Score and get invited to a raid. These people are going to be raid kicked. However on the flip side, you having GearScore addon and being able to provide this figure to raid leaders is an indicator of your own knowledge of gearing criteria. Like it or not, GS has come to serve as your entire resume when trying to PUG a raid. *Also, Recount addon. Without this addon you will never be able to tell, down to the very number themselves, wether or not the changes you are making have effected a positive change. The training dummies in Capital cities aren’t there so you can ‘test your DPS’ and just watch the Numbers fly by you illegibly. The Training Dummies absolutely necessitate the use of DPS tracking, and understanding your class and rotations will usually necessitate the use of the Dummies.
