I need some football equipment donated for my youth football team. Where do I turn to?
I coach 4th 5th and 6th graders
Equipment can be used
cleats, hand warmers, gloves (linemen and receiver),
We live in a rural KS town. Some of the kids I coach have parents that can afford to buy these items. However, I do occassionally have a few whose parents cannot. The program is only 3 yrs old and was started on a limited budget. I appreciate your answers and am going to try and see if some of your suggestions will work.
I work for a charity which runs a summer camp, so I know your situation. First, put out a call to the PTO or similar group in the school. Ask for donations of used equipment. There are always kids who take up a sport and then change their minds, leaving the parents stuck with equipment. Also, maybe the team itself can do a community drive or a fundraiser. The local sporting goods stores are always a good choice as well. Another source (which we haven't tried, but its worth a shot) could be colleges or universities. Are you near any? Ask their athletic director if they have any used items (I know that doesn't work for clothing, but other equipment like balls or workout supplies could be gotten).
