Do male rugby players wear groin protectors as boxers do?

All forms of "rigid" protective materials, including plastic cups, are illegal in rugby. The protection/support provided by athletic supports or compression shorts is sufficient. That and (unlike a cup) they are not going to cause serious injury should they shift out of position in the middle of a ruck, or some similar situation.

Are there any sports stores that sell female cups?

Are there any sports stores that sell female cups? Or groin protectors for softball?
Yeah, I am looking for more of a hard cup for softball.

Female groin protectors are often geared toward martial arts. So looking to martial arts supply places may be helpful. Here some links that I found:

I have never done business with them, so I do not know if they are good places to buy from or not.

Edit: The Adidas groin protector in the top link has a hard polyethylene cup on the outside and a softer, firm EVA foam padding on the inside, just like men's cups. I would think that one should work well for softball. It covers and protects the pubic bone and the uterus and ovaries as well.

   for most hockey leagues it is required. It does still hurt us if we get hit there, especially with a hockey puck going very fast. If nothing else, it could prevent a bone down there from being broken. I was thinking about starting to ref hockey and my boyfriend who refs told me that you do need it. If i were her, I'd get it just to stay on the safe side.

   Some brief information on the Ukrainian paintball competition that shall be taking place at The Paintball Place, Kulnura, Corner Springs and Greta Roads, Kulnura NSW 2250. Tel: 02 43761411 or 1800 650 407 [www.paintballplace.com.au] on Sunday 15 October 2006.

   How to get there:
   Leave Sydney on the F3, take the Peats Ridge exit, travel 14.5km, turn left into George Downs Drive just after servo, travel 9.6km then turn right into Springs Rd left at Greta Rd. Also see above website.

   Approximate travelling time
   1.5 hours from Lidcombe;
   1 hour from Central Business District of Sydney.

   Arrival time
   9.30am.

   Cost
   $55.00 per person. This includes:
   * 200 paintballs.
   * All day field fees (12-16 games per day).
   * Latest ear to ear head protective mask.
   * High quality paintball guns & gas refills.
   * Full camouflage overalls and neck protector.
   * For ladies – padded vests and chest guard, and fingerless gloves.
   * Experienced professional staff.
   * Hot showers and flushing toilets.
   * Parking for cars.
   * Tea, coffee and biscuits all day.
   * All you can eat BBQ including marinated chicken, garlic potato bake, pepper rissoles, sausages, salad, fruit & bread.

   Drinks (i.e. softdrinks and bottles of water) are not included in the $55.00 cost, however, they can be bought at the centre. It is suggested that you bring your own soft drinks and water given that the price charged at Kulnura appears prohibitive.
   The above cost of $55.00 does not cover the cost of $5.00 for a groin protector for men. It is strongly advisable that men purchase this groin protector at the time of arrival (or prior to the competition from a local sports store) particularly if they wish to produce children in the future There is no need later to shoot blanks off the field because of the absence of a groin protector! If you intend to use a groin protector, please bring an extra pair of underpants with you – so that the groin protector sits between each pair of underpants. Therefore, don’t wear boxer shorts on the day.

   Valuables
   Leave all valuables at home unless you intend to leave them in your car or hand them to our photographer/caretaker, Marika.
   Women should not wear any jewellery on the day unless they wish to dispose of them for good on the day and/or sustain an injury because of such items. Thus, rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, nose/ear studs etc should be left at home.

   General procedure upon arrival
   In general terms, upon arrival you will be given a waiver form to sign, a camouflage uniform, tea and coffee. Thereafter the staff will give you a lesson on safety issues, the day’s events, paintball rules and teams will then be selected. Given that we require at least 40 individuals to play on our own, we will therefore join another group. Perhaps it will be our group against another group? Let us see on the day.

   Protective gear
   Safety masks will be allocated to individuals and must be worn at all times on the field to avoid serious eye injury or even blindness.
   You might wish to wear thicker clothing underneath the camouflage overalls to minimise bruising from the paintballs, however, this may be uncomfortable if the weather is hot. The best strategy is to avoid getting hit, so watch your back!
   Wear comfortable hiking boots or other practical footwear because you will be doing a lot of running (and diving for cover).

   Purchase of additional paintballs
   If anyone wishes to purchase additional paintballs, this can be done at any time during the day, however, the office at Kulnura has advised that this should preferably be done before lunch. Prices for the purchase of additional paintballs may be obtained prior to, or at the time of arrival. The cost is approximately $22.00 per 100 paintballs, however, this may be verified by phone with Kulnura or at the time of arrival.
   The average paintball shooter will use between 500 and 700 paintballs. Therefore, it is suggested that you shoot with precision rather than in a haphazard manner.

   Nick-names
   You must come with a nick-name for yourself e.g. Myhailo = Mischa. That will be your identity on the paintball field.

   Children
   Anyone under the age of 18 years is not permitted on the field.

   Photographs
   Due to the risk of injury, no photographs may be taken whilst paintball activities are taking place. However, Marika will be taking photos before our team departs for the field and upon our return from the field.

   Late sign-ups
   There is no guarantee that if you make a last minute decision to join the paintball activities by showing up on the day (15.10.06) you will be able to play paintball, nor is there any guarantee that you will be able to join our group on the day. In other words, you might spend part of the day playing with another group or sitting around in Kulnura doing nothing. The decision is up to you.
