What are som Pro's and Con's of the coast guard?

would you recommend it and what about the other four branches. im 16 years old female and interested in joining the military. advice?

All Big D can do is cut and paste... he doesn't know about who we are and what we do.

The Coast Guard actually has the second highest percentage of females among our ranks - only the Air Force beats us.

And something that none of the other services can say - we have no restrictions for females in our ratings - women can do anything guys can do (except for the five quotas per year we get for SEAL school). We had the first woman in any of the service academies and the first woman to command a warship.

PROS:
--That article is out of date - we only have 19 ratings, which means that you will be more of a generalist than a specialist. Our medical folks have one rating to cover all aspects of medical operations - while the Air Force has 14. The way I see it - you'll never be bored by doing the same things day after day.
--We are VERY close-knit - having a lot of camaraderie and espirit de corps.
--We train for stuff we do every day, which is quite different than the other services that train for stuff they hope they never have to do (kill people and destroy stuff).
--Our training is VERY sought after by civilian employers, which means that once you get out, you are nearly guaranteed a job.

CONS:
--Very few large bases which means that very few of our people have access to base facilities like Commissaries and medical care (we go to civilian doctors most of the time).
--Very few people in the other services know who we are and what we do - so we catch a lot of crap from people that don't know.
--We have VERY high member satisfaction - which might be seen as a good thing - but it means that there are very few reenlistment bonuses.
--Since we're not part of Department of Defense, sometimes we miss out on "military" specials - as lots of civilian folks only think of DoD when they offer specials for admission to parks and stuff like that.

Personally, I think the Pros outweigh the Cons... and have thought so for over 16 years.

Will Shaun Alexander performance this year be as effective without All-Pro guard Steve Hutchinson?

Not a chance. As the Denver Broncos seem to prove year after year, a running back can be made into a star by his O-line. Shaun Alexander is an excellent RB, but it would be difficult for him to duplicate his stats from last year even WITH Hutchinson. Without him, he may still have a great season, but if you're asking if he will be "as effective," I would say the safe money is on "No."

   We rolled Murray out of the pocket intentionally one time Saturday – long completion to Durham. We ran one bootleg – touchdown. Our coaches’ stubborn refusal to abandon the pro-style offense will be their downfall.

   It's gorgeous! I just got myself the medium version and I love it! Have you tried apple guard products? The water/stain repellant works pretty well and I've heard that the leather conditioner works well to lessen water stains.

   yea….he's my age and only does 225lbs more than me… no big deal at all (sarcastic)
