Hook Training I need advice on training my two husky puppy's?
I have two husky sisters that are 5mth of age, I read that before you can train them to pull you need to tie out train them first.
I did that and they are great, but the problem is, when you hook them to an object to pull they act as if it is their tie out and wont try to pull, knowing that when they are on there tie out and they go to the end it stops them.
So when you hook an object to there leash or chain they wont try and pull it.
Please give advice if you can.
Your puppies should not be pulling anything attached to their collar -- I'm assuming you have harnesses on them?
Sled dogs understand the difference between being tied to something by the collar, and being harnessed to it. If they lean in and feel tension on their neck, it is only right for them to assume that they should not pull.
If, however, they're feeling the tension against their chest (as would be produced by a properly-fitted harness), their instinct is to lean in and pull, especially if you encourage them through praise and reward.
