Have I eaten healthy today?
Okay, so I would like to know about how many calories I have had today, how many calories I SHOULD be getting a day, and whether or not I have made healthy decisions today. So first of all I am 13, 5' 4", and like 100-103 lbs. So today I have eaten...
Breakfast
a packet of quaker apple cinnamon instant oatmeal
a glass (approx. 1 cup) Skim milk
Lunch
My school is stupid on Mondays and had lunch at like 10:40, so I just ate a large, gala apple
Snack
About 6 oz. Raw, peeled baby carrots and about 4-5 tbs. of Jacks special medium salsa
breakfast and snack were good, lunch was not good. I don't know what choices you have available (and if you can't get anything healthy, you need to bring something).
You are pretty low weight, so I'd rather see you eating some healthy protein and whole grain carbs or legumes with vegetables.
As a 6'3" man, its hard for me to guess your needed calorie intake, but at your age you should be eating a reasonable amount. Dieting in young people makes me nervous because they are still growing. You might not be your full height yet at 13. If a young person is really overweight, it would be good for them to lose it, but in your case you most certainly or not. You should really try not to worry about calories, you don't need to.
Eat healthy foods (proteins, whole grains, vegetables, some fruit) with a few treats/week. Eat till you're full. Make sure you have plenty of energy. Worry about being active and fit. The rest will take care of itself.
