Hey guys, so im thinking of getting a punch bag, but ive come to a choice now and I dont know what to go for. I do karate, so I need it for punching and the occasional kick, knee etc. Now ive been looking at Hayashi bags, and they're all called kick bags, and the everlast and lonsdale bags are heavy punch bags. Will the everlast ones be good/safe for kicking, kneeing, elbow etc. And does kick bag mean kicks only (crap for punching?)
please help!!!!
go for a leather bag with a rubber inner layer ( this gives a spongy bounce-off effect ). and you want it hard and heavy,
the softer the bag , the more you will bend and sprain your wrist and ankles,
harder bags allow good solid connections without bending wrists and ankles , so get a sand filled, dont get foam ,

Punching bags have been used in martial arts and swordplay for as long as there has been a written history of military training. Similar apparatus in Asian martial arts include the Okinawan makiwara and the Chinese mook jong, which may have padded striking surfaces attached to them. In martial arts and combat sports such as Karate, Taekwondo, and Muay Thai; heavy bags, standing bags, and similar apparatuses have been adapted for practicing kicking and other striking maneuvers in addition to developing punching technique. What kind of bag should I get?
**this is a punching bag**
I am a 16 year old girl, muscular and I need a bag to practice karate moves on when at home. What brand and weight would you recommend I get and does the weight really matter? Any other info much appreciated.
I have class three times a week and I cant go more than that because he isn't there everyday. I do cross train at home but I want to practice moves at home too. And he told me I can get one to practice if I like, so I think I will listen to my sensei over you.
And how is Boxing not the right category for a punching bag?
you don't need a bag at your home. you should be at the gym or dojo 5 times a week working wit h your instuctor and on the days you don't go you should be doing your cross training. that is running, push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, air squats, squat-thrusts, back extensions, and any other exercise that doesn't include weights. weights can make you bulky and for karate you need to be strong but flexible and lean.
you and your adult brothers need to have her psychiatrically evaluated and committed to an institution where she cannot hurt herself or others. It's a difficult and often costly process because it involves having a lawyer and paying a doctor etc etc, but these expenses are your mom's responsibility because it is for her care. Once she is admitted to a facility medicare and social security will take over the expense of housing and treatment for her. Get legal advice, many lawyers will give a first consultation for free.
