Would the average mma fighter beat a football player?
I am going to high school, and have somehow made enemies with some football players my age. I am going to be taking muay thai, and bjj this fall. After about 6 months of training, if we got in a fight, would I get beat up, or manage to hold my own. I don't want to go out an pick fights, but I do want to defend myself.
It all depends on who teaches you the sports, and how big or good the football player is.
Muay thai is a very good sport, its hard and will teach you alot, BJJ is good for taking the bigger person down so if you goes to the ground you may come out on top.
BUT remember martial arts ALL martial arts are hard and it take a few years to learn to fight good, so in those 6 months work you ass off all the time and you will be a good fighter.
REMEMBER do not miss used martial arts, that is disrespecting you teacher and the spirit of martial arts.

Oh haha. Ive always thought that Muay Thai was very popular in Cali, because California has alot of southeast asians and Muay Thai been used alot in UFC by many great fighters, like Shogun and wanderlei silva. Maybe it depends on your weight class. My friends are about 130-170lbs and they practice Muay Thai.
