One isnt necessarily being mean or disrespectful to acknowledge that someone took a lot of hard blows to the head and is now showing the results. Most of the guys who fought Frazier would have gone down for the count/been TKO'd after a few rounds; Ali absorbed those punches for 41 rounds. Throw in the wicked shots he took over the years from other fighters – Bonavena, Norton, Shavers, Holmes, Spinks etc., and I think you'd be unwise to say that all those blows from the fists of strong, capable heavyweights didn't cause serious problems. MAs iron chin & stout heart proved to be a blessing and a curse at the same time; a blessing in that he could absorb enormous amounts of punishment that would have flattened most other fighters, a curse in that you have to 'pay the piper' at some point. For Ali, that time came after he hung up the gloves.
