It's an ox not a bull. 2009 is the the year of the ox in the Chinese calendar. The man holding the kindle is Arthur C. Clark. He wrote Space Odyssey and he died in 2008. The pirates are Somali pirates that started to get world wide attention last year. Fidel Castro nearly died last year and has turned over most of his power to his brother.
