can i be a professional boxer?

i need some advice people. i just turned thirty and i am very confused about my life, as are most, but i have always wanted to be a professional boxer, but now i wonder if it is too late. here is my story i am from new jersey but now live in tn. i am 6'foot 190lbs. i smoke cigarettes, and i am out of shape. i have had a very sad life filled with more hardships than i care to count. in a way i am similar to the ROCKY character minus the boxing and fame, etc. my plan is to quit smoking, go to a regular gym to get in shape for 1-2 years build muscle, and stamina,edurance, etc. then, i was going to move to a town where boxing gyms are and promoters, like las vegas. hoping that i will get a shot. i have experience in aikido, and i have sparred alot and been in a few fights but i have never been knocked out, and i had a botched wisdom teeth surgery that has left my jaw line numb permentl, so that should help in the ring, but here is my question, am i too old or should i just go for it?!!

Well, quitting smoking and getting in shape will have their benefits, whatever you do with it. Training for boxing is be just about the best physical and mental training out there. Whether you can go pro at this stage is questionable. Rocky was a movie, real life is different. One of the keys to getting into the pros is to have a great amateur record, leading to the Olympics or at least Olympic contender status. Obviously you won't have that. You can hope to get noticed in the gym, but whether that works for you or not, you certainly won't be wasting your time with the training. With your new conditioned and nicotine-free body, you can go in a lot of different ways after that. It might be easier to get into MMA than pro boxing, which is sort of a closed circle. Or you might never be a pro anything, but you can have a lot of fun with your training and perhaps get into coaching kids at the Y. You might be the next Cus D'Amato, and his name is certainly as well known, and a lot more respected, than the pro creep he coached. So, you have a lot to gain and nothing to lose. Gopher it!

Boxing Rabbi! In the Ring with Yuri Foreman

I am in boxing and the girl i am supposed to spare with claimed she was the middleweight champion ,but i?

researched up her history and i found out she's only been in the ring 2 times and it wasn't middleweight it was lightweight and she did win but no championships or anything. I also found out that one of her fights was bought off. Do you think i stand a chance against her in the ring sparring? On her 1st fight i found out that she almost got beat to death and the girl tired out and her 2nd fight was bought off according to her records. Whats your advice? I am a weightlifter and i sparr with men mostly i am classified as middleweight. They are wanting me to go professional. Do you think i have a chance winning sparring with her?
