im a photographer, and i also create and edit advertising copy, layouts and promo stuff...

goto piratebay and type in wallpapers (HD) they are all in the 2500x3500 size range, and the imagery is stunning... ive collected over 10 thousand... they arrive as gifs, tiffs and jpegs... theyre all free, and so far, ive never had a virus... (because they arent installed) but i alway check...

Sewing & Fashion Design : How to Stock a Sewing Area

Should I have customers buy stock photos for their web site design or should I & just add it to the invoice?

I am creating a web design set-up manual to show customers the basic process of setting up a web site, since I don't have a laptop. I'm not sure what the best way would be regarding the purchase of stock photography.

If they select an image they want for their site and I purchase it, but if they change their mind and want another photo - I don't want to get stuck paying for it. They probably wouldn't want to pay for the image that they are not using .

If they purchase the image from a stock photo web site and send me the file accompanied by the receipt from the purchase, would probably work best. I don't want to have the customer just downloading random photos from website and saying that they paid for them, so I thought providing a receipt was a good idea to cover myself.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey thats pretty simple.. u just show them ur design using actual watermarked photos once they approve ur design then u proceed to buy them.

If they decide to change it later.. them u must generate another bill for the new update.

   Try the Blackouts. I hear really good things about them, but I haven't installed them on any guitar myself. They're supposed to sound like EMG's, but more transparent, and open, as opposed to EMG's being compressed and take on their own sound.

   The invaders could cause several problems, since they are high-output passive pickups- if they have large magnets, they could cause the strings to detune because of their strong pull. Or, if they have excessive coil windings, they could lose a lot of top-end response and presence.

   As far as using a single power supply for both, I'm not completely sure. My guess is that if you tap into (I'm assuming that the piezo runs off of a 9V battery) the battery and wire everything parrallel to it, you could run all 3 pickups off of the one battery, but my guess is that it would shorten battery life. Maybe you should consult a tech for that one.

   Every computer, a pc that is, should have a good illustrator program that has an interface with every part exposed and not layers and layers of intimidating modules and tools. I used to swear by MACs and have received used, from generous friends, but when it came time to buy a computer, I chose a pc because of one program.

   Corel-release XARA, from 1998, is still very similiar to the latest version, XARA Xtreme. In just six months, I re-applied the old school illustration training from decades, to my mouse and mousepad. I really recommend as you progress to get a drawing tablet by INTOUS.

   Damn, Mel – are you REALLY going to try and post these pretty much every day? No wonder you have lots of work to do, if you want to write that often!

   Ok, I did notice that there were several day gaps between some of the posts, but you still put a lot of effort into this – so its a shame you don't spell-check before you publish. Yeah, I know – I'm a spelling and grammar cop and completely boring, but you want to try reading the posts. You'll shock yourself, because I know you like things to be right almost as much as I do.

   Anyway, all that aside, the comment I was really going to make is about your “micro-stock versus pro-stock” discussion, which I happen to think is pretty damn important. And not least because I want to steal some of your pictures for my own site!

   Since I do software rather than photos, and websites rather than stock, my point of view is different. I could – and will in my own blog – discuss the devaluing of coding skills in the same way you talk about devaluing photographer skills and for much the same reason.

   I will be honest and admit that I am using cheap and cheerful pre-built “stock-designs” such as my blog page, admittedly with a little bit of tweaking to improve it. I'll also be honest and admit that I need micro-stock to dress it up since a cheap website is no place to use expensive pro-stock, but the fact is that it is not very good – any professional could do much better.

   The same applies to micro-stock in your business. A quick look at the designs provided by Blogger is enough to show that they are amateurish (and WordPress has the very same faults, I see, though they do hide theirs better). As an example, compare the very similar – properly done – design for my homw page with my blog page. The blog is stuck to a fixed size. But change the size of the browser window on the main site and every part of it changes size with you! Blogger does not even try to do that.

   Fact is, you get what you pay for. Micro-stock can only ever be a simple, pretty, but not very good photo. It simply is not worth putting all that much effort into it. Just make sure the buyers know. You are a professional and you CAN do much more than micro-stock makes worth your while.

   Not a fan of the away or third kit this year. Very stock designs, the little side accents have no real purpose.
