Tkd Karate

Kenpo Karate or TKD??
I want to learn a fighting style and its between these two. Which style is better and why?
Kenpo is developed for the American streets. It encompasses Judo, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, Shotokan, Muy Thai and old fashioned streetfighting. It's a very practical self defense style. It is good at a distance in close or straight up in your face.
TKD is mostly kicks and only good at a distance. It counts on speed more than anything.
Kenpo is much better. If you want a Black Belt fast though, TKD they give them to you in 2 years or less.

I think the Kung Fu guy (or Karate guy – whatever) was a bit to quick to jump into his stance. It just served to warn the other guy that he knew something, so the other guy would be more wary. Having said that, he still won quite quickly.
As Chris said, it did serve to put some fear into the other guy who did look scared. The only problem is that some people would rather take the risk of getting a beating than back down and loose face in front of others (personally, I think I'd rather loose face, but that's just me
As a very broad generalisation (and I know there are exceptions before anybody jumps on me), Kung Fu tends to be circular. It acts a bit like a spinning top which flings things away centrifugally when they come too near. As such them don't need to be very mobile, then just need to be able to spin very fast (it was a circular punch that knocked the other guy down).
TKD, was largely based Shotokan Karate which traces back to the Okinawan style of Shuri Te. These styles are not so much based on centrifugal force as forward body momentum. To get that forward momentum requires more mobility (especially forward). For a TKD/Karate guy going into some styles of Kung Fu, it probably would seem less mobile, but it doesn't need to be with the principles that it uses.
But this is genralisations. Karate/TKD also have circular techniques and Kung Fu also has linear techniques (Wing Chun is very linear). I do Karate and work often work with a Kung Ku guy and we find loads of over-lap between our styles (which is why Bob features us StrikingThoughts now and then – thanks Bob).
I hope this helps
