Has a JKD stylist ever won a MMA or UFC match or tournament?

The concept of a style without a style, of fighting without form or artificial restrictions was Bruce Lee's stated objective when he created Jeet Kune Do. This is also the objective of Mixed Martial Arts fighting.

How close is JKD to MMA? And if the objectives are the same, has a JKD fighter ever won a MMA or UFC match or tournament? If no, why not?

Probably the first JKD stylist to win in MMA was Eric Paulsen, a student of Dan Inosanto. However a guy named Todd Medina also was quite successful. He trained in JKD in Orange County under Inosanto lineage as well. Both of these were competing around 1996/97. Paulsen had some good success on the Japanese Shootfighting circuit but also competed in a UFC type event against Carlson Gracie Jnr or Ralph Gracie. It was either the World Combat Championships or Extreme Fighting.

I do wish however that those of you who tend to answer any JKD/Bruce Lee question by starting out "JKD isn't a style it's a philosophy" would get some education.... What denotes a 'style' of martial art? It has techniques, it has drills, it has strategies. By that very same outlook all martial arts are 'philosophies'. Please don't show your ignorance or superficial knowledge of the system/art/philosophy by supposing you know more than the practitioners out there!
