Wall Clock Boxer
Knocked out by bump on head... is this normal?
My boyfriend and I were wrestling earlier today and he ended up clocking me pretty good on the forehead right between the eyes with his head. It was a pretty hard hit, but I couldn't really feel it except for a dull pain in the back of my head. Anyways, I took a few steps forward about 5 seconds after the hit and everything got fuzzy and it looked like tunnel vision. One second I was standing up and the next I was on the ground against the wall, and everything still seemed pretty blurry. He had me sit on the couch to relax and eventually I felt okay. Is it normal to be knocked out by a little bump on the head like that? And I say "little" because I picture all the boxers that get knocked out and this was nothing compared to that, although it was a pretty hard hit for my poor head lol
No. That is not normal and there are a couple of things that could be going wrong. First it could be a concussion"concussion typically involves temporary impairment of neurological function which quickly resolves by itself, and that neuroimaging normally shows no gross structural changes to the brain as the result of the condition."Or it could be something more serious such as Subdural hematomas are most often caused by head injury, when fast changing velocities within the skull may stretch and tear small bridging veins. Head injuries are not to be played with. SF Paramedic. Be careful.
