Wrap Martial Arts
injury when doing pad drills?
I have been doing mixed martial arts for two weeks now and today I took some skin of my 2nd and 3rd knuckle when doing pad drills.
I was wearing fingerless pad mitts, should I buy some hand wraps to stop this happening or do I need to toughen up my knuckles.

Let your hands toughen up.....however, don't keep letting the same cut keep getting opened up. And keep it protected from germs and such.
Since I don't know if you ever hit a "heavy bag"? Do tape up for this! You can fillet thick flesh off if you hit hard....
Try doing push-ups on your fists, this has made my hands like Hammers!
For hand strength...eventually you will want to try to do push-ups on your finger tips....."BE CAREFUL".
This combined with some gripping techniques will give you over all hand power and durability.
P.S.- Learn "balance/how to punch" before you try to hit hard~

How to Wrap your Hands for Muay Thai Training
Whats the best method to build my own martial art belt display?
I am astonished at the prices of martial art belt and certificate displays. I want to make my own, but there seem to be different ways of making them, has anyone else made their own? Or have any suggestions.I have access to a workshop, just unsure as to which is the best method to make. The slatted idea with the belts wrapped around it, or just having shelf like places for them.Thanks.
I have access to bandsaws, disc sanders, linishers, jigsaws, pillar drills.
Unfortunately no access to a router...

links to pictures of belt displays. Obviously some are easily made as they are just wood slats, the more solid wood ones are my direction.
I have used smooth,U-shaped cabinet door handles,Mounted to a nice peice of stained or painted wood.
Place the handles about 16" or 18" apart. Your belts can then be threaded through and even tied properly.
